A response to the common space humans share with non-humans — in this case, the genetic material shared between humans and the algae Chlamydomonas.
Humans share DNA with non-human living things — fruit fly, mustard grass, roundworm. With algae, we share roughly 35% of the genome of this often-overlooked organism.
Through sculpture and video, the piece rethinks what we are, using the Venn diagram alongside visuals of DNA code drawn from the homologous-gene research on Chlamydomonas.
Presented through The Bureau for Binary Indiscretions — an ongoing platform to review the coding system of binaries we use to organise the world.
